i have been a regular visitor to this forum for the past 2 years or so, finally i got the courage to register.. you guys are an inspiration , your stories and experiences have helped me to take a stand against this controlling org.. in short, i was raised from birth as a jw, parents are from the old school very much hard liners, the society is their god.
is expected of you, get baptised as a teenager become a ms then elder.
i always had my doubts about the society and its teachings but was.

it happened one year ago today.
june 4, 2004. they say these things take time and that recovery gets easier as time goes on, and i suppose that's true.
but then again, some things leave a hole in your heart that will never go away.
David_10,
Sorry about your loss.

tonight i meet with the overseer?
and another elder.
plus the older gentlemen who i study with.
If you already got coerced into becoming an unbaptized publisher, you'll soon after be coerced into being baptized.
I feel for you. You'll be in this painful double life like so many of us here. It's awful. Really sorry.

in april, maya angelou was interviewed by oprah on her 70+ birthday.
oprah asked her what she thought of growing older.
and, there on television, she said it was "exciting.
What a wise woman!
Thanks for bringing this up!

i know this has probably been asked before.. did anything positive come from you being a jw?.
i personally was never a jw....but i have benefited from darling husband being one.
from working on all those quick builds and being involved in all those cleaning businesses.
The JW experience taught me to be disciplined, courteous, friendly, somewhat outgoing, to analyze my behavior prior to carrying it out and see how it will affect others, not to trust or follow my heart because it changes very often. Taught me to be studious, and keep good schedules.
Then again, I don't know if this is good or not in this day and age, but the JW experience taught me to be a judgemental prude big time!
Because of the JW experience, I met and still keep in contact with some very nice people.

toughest question anyone can ask, if the love of your life, and mate/wife/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend messed around on you, whether it be once or for years, how would you handle it and what would you do, think about it slowly and carefully.. wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy.. it's said that 50 % of marriages are affected by an affair, it's probaly alot higher.. did you notice any affairs in your congregation ???.
i look back now, and think, oh yeah there was.
I'd be extremelly hurt. However, I'd file for a divorce on grounds of adultery.
I've been hurt before. I'll get over it, however long it takes, and be able to love again.
